Description
You’ve heard it dozens of times in the past several months, employers across the globe are feeling the pains of the “Great Resignation” coupled with “Quiet Quitting”. Why are employees leaving & how do we ensure our top talent stays in place? How do we engage and re-engage employees to deliver on our business objectives? The tide has turned (again) and at present the negotiation power is in the hands of job candidates and employees. How do we navigate these changing waters, developing a “sticky” culture, and draw top talent when competition is fierce?
Join Nora Burns for this insightful, perspective-shifting, and highly interactive session that takes into consideration the boardroom, the break room, and all points in between when re-imagining our workplace culture.
Nora is not your average leadership and workplace culture consultant. She has completed extensive research in the area of workplace culture including two rigorous projects as The Undercover Candidate™, and The Undercover Employee™. Her perspectives on workplace culture, hiring, turnover, and leadership include not only her career as an HR Executive with the Fortune 500, but also as her one-of-a-kind research. She will challenge your thinking, push you to action, and likely make you laugh along the way.
Instructor: Nora Burns
As a college student Nora was already managing a team of 100+ staff including handling everything from interviews to terminations. Thirty years later she has built a career helping organizations reimagine the employee and candidate experiences and guiding leaders in understanding the complex relationships between business objectives and people management. She has conducted primary research as The Undercover Candidate™ & The Undercover Employee™ including 250+ job interviews (not as herself), and working on the front lines of eight organizations – firms that did not know her as an expert in leadership and workplace culture, but saw her as “just’a” front line employee (a phrase that she discovered is too often defines a management approach for critical front-line employees).
A go-to resource in the area of leadership and workplace culture, she has overseen operations and HR practices within the Fortune 200, as well as start-up firms, associations, and mid-size corporations managing both on-site and remote teams. Her insights are a blend of education, experience, and proprietary primary research into workplace culture. Nora has served on the Leadership Advisory Panel for the Chief of the US Forest Service, and coached the Presidential Fellows for the CDC. Her media credits include Forbes, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, Colorado Public Radio, SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management), and a variety of leadership podcasts across the country. Nora’s forthcoming book “Backstage Pass: Pulling Back The Curtain On Employee Retention and Workplace Culture” is due to be released in Spring of 2023. www.TheLeadershipExperts.com
When she’s not in front of audiences or working on a consulting project you’ll find her in Denver, CO most likely with a coffee in one hand and a dog lead in the other.
