Description
“If you don’t know what you want to achieve in your presentations, those listening to you never will”
The right information: People can only relate to, and implement, what they initially understand. When presentations are not clear in organization and clarification, they risk getting lost or not being acted upon. The best messages are those where a listener thinks to themselves, “Ok, I get that!” That doesn’t just happen, whether you are face-to-face or virtual with your audience. Messages and ideas need to be clear and interesting. Why? Because your credibility depends on it! How does this message get crafted? It starts with the one design key that will change the way you put together your information.
To the right people: Knowing your listener provides you with clues so you deliver in a clean and concise manner, so they take notice. There are two primary things to learn about your audience that, when built into a presentation, will make your Q&A session run smoother. What if you have no information about those listening to you? Learn a technique to enable you to reach them with the concept of “shared experiences”.
Great information, delivered in a dry and boring way, might as well be emailed! Three foundational delivery skills are taught and demonstrated for the audience. A few volunteers might get the opportunity for coaching in an activity. Understand the impact your voice has on your message especially since we often present to global audiences. Your voice is your punctuation, and a primary delivery avenue for virtual formats.
In the right format: This changes constantly and you need to be agile to accomplish the same impact regardless of the format. Take the message and delivery skills you learned and quickly adapt them into different environments.
